Nice dip in the 350 and 750 range... just like a tube preamp with a graphic eq with a 750Hz slide. ☺

Bet it would sound great in a SS amp.

Surprised anyone would come out with a "premium" speaker that heavy in 2017.

I'm surprised too, as a lot of the push is toward "lighter".

Many people have said they can hear a difference between ferrite magnets and the neos. I'm not sure that's not mind playing tricks.
But it wouldn't surprise me if he chose ferrite for a reason.

It could be that to voice the speaker the way he wanted, with those particular dips in the mids that it was then impossible to roll the highs off correctly with a neo.

Just speculating on the design issues that must be faced.

4 Ohm 12s? Dunno how many of those will sell. Two 8s in series is 4

Nope. Two 8s in series is 16. Two 8s in parallel is 4.

Indeed. And I know better. And I know the difference.
I was half asleep. But it still remains that most buyers of 12s will want 8 Ohms either because they're going into smaller cabs with amps that want to see 8 Ohms or they're going into bigger amps with more power that want to see 4 Ohms and 2 12s will sound fatter than one 12, even a good one.

The frame looks an awful lot like an EVM!

Looks like same frame as the Delta Pro 12A by Eminence. Checked and they are pretty similar in frequency response. The Delta Pro series is an EVM knock-off for sure.

The Delta Pro 12A comes in 8 ohm.

Their is a lightweight version of the Delta Pro 12A available in 4 and 8 ohm. About 1/2 the price of the PF model. 14 ponds!

4-inch voice coil! Like the old JBLs. Pretty unusual these days, I think, especially in a 12.

Put two of these in a UL Twin and you'd need a fork lift to move it, but I suspect it would sound fantastic.

Frequency response is very close to an EVM 12L. Looks very similar to the ones I have.

How much do a JBL D-120 and EVM 12M weigh by comparison?

I personally feel tone is more important than weight. But not everyone feels that way.

The resonance is 63hz and the Xmax is a short 0.79mm.

Looks like it was designed for sharp attacks, quick return on the speaker excursion.

Peaks around 1.5k string-tone area.

Interesting.

Is this the first artist-series speaker?

Ummmm, Travis Toy has a neodymium 12 that has been getting rave reviews

Thanks Lane.

Different specs on the Double-T.. Lower resonance than the PF, the Xmax is greater than the PF as well. The peak is about 1.8k. Magnet heavier on the PF and real tiny on the TT.

That Knopfler jam solo comes to mind per Paul's style of attack vs TT's laid back playing style.

It truly is the golden era of speakers.

Eminence can take a lot of the credit for having an incredible list of speakers to choose from.

A jammate of mine just put a pair of Emi cv75s in his JCM800 and every guitar Fenders thru Gibsons in every genre at every gain level... sounds really good with those.

Wonder if this is closer to the old EVM-12S like Pete Anderson used.

The look of the PF has that EV vibe and the resonance is close at 70hz for the 12S but the peak is past 3K and the Xmax is a whopping 3mm on the 12S. Plus it's relatively a 4 ohm compared to the PF's 8.

With so many more varieties of speaker available now, I have to wonder if there's been some radical advance in coil winding gear or assembly equipment that allows for nearly seamless change from one model to another.

It would have to be a bead on the assembly for them to slap them together based on the T-S params at the drop. What's intriguing is the Xmax on the PF. That cone is tight!
