A friend of mine sent me this picture yesterday. The local Salvation Army store was selling these two lap steels, a Gibson Ultratone and a Harmony Roy Smeck. The Gibson had been listed at $399, but someone who went to the store told me that the price had been lowered to $299. The Harmony was $149. But there's more... today (MLK Day) everything in the store is 50% off! So the $450 for both guitars is now $225 for both guitars. The store opened at 9:00 AM. I couldn't get there until 9:30. The place was packed. I looked around... no lap steels. I asked the cashier if the guitars were still there and she said... no, those were the first things sold today! Someone got a deal.

Well look at it this way Doug: maybe you weren't meant to have these to begin with. If your friend hadn't sent you the photo you would have never known they were there.

I got there at 9AM, but someone snagged both of them! I didn't get his name, but he was a collector/musician, so they're going to a good home.
