The power and tone stack are subjective. The one thing I would suggest is the amp be a head version. The type and size of the speaker are important but so is the cabinet the speaker is in. I enjoy trying different speakers and cabs using the same head. The portability is also an asset.

Regarding the speakers: IMO they need to have a shallow cone. The deep cones of almost all guitar speakers throw out a very narrow beam. That creates a kind of spot light effect with very heavy circular phase distortion on the edge of the beam.

Shallow cone speakers throw a much broader sphere of sound, projecting to the sides much better and lessening the phase anomalies there. They couple to the room much, much better creating a musical 3D sense of space. That is one reason JBL's sound so fantastic. You can hear this if you create a DI track and send that to the amplifier while you walk around it at a distance of 10 feet or so.
