Gone But Not Forgotten - Older Mic Models That Still Do The Job - Shure SM59
A real “sleeper†you can get for a song! Ruler-flat frequency response from 100 Hz to 10 kHz means this mic has no built-in “hype.â€
This feature, along with relatively low output, probably contributed to its eventual demise, since it was marketed primarily as a vocal mic.
But these same features make it great for horns, guitar cabinets, and other places you might not want a SM57 “presence peakâ€.
Not terribly common, but as of a few years ago at least, they could be found for under $100.

You don't see those too often. Do you have any of the original accessories...wind screen, mic mount, case?
I have the SM57 and SM58 and both are great mics. |

Roger I wasn't even thinking about extras. As a matter of fact, I do have the mic stand holders in a different box. I think the mic screens are internal (under the wire screens) on this model. Like the SM-58's.
2 mic holders will be included in the sale.
I've heard these mics are exceptional for horns (live and recording)
Thanks again. _________________ Customer: "Waiter, how do you prepare your chicken?"

You're right. The specs indicate there's added blocking built into this mic to block breath sounds. I was thinking about the foam wind screens that fit over the metal screen that block breath sounds. That's more for vocal, so probably wouldn't be used much any way. |
