Currently I have an old Peavey Deuce VT with the factory CTS speakers in it. I have been considering swapping them out for Black Widow's. What I know about BW's is that the ones I think I should be looking for is 1203-8's? Are there other model numbers that were good with these amps?

I have a friend who has a Peavey PA system close to the same age as the Deuce with monitors that have 12in BW's in them. I was wondering if there are any Peavey experts out there that would know if these speakers would match with the Deuce or how to even tell what model number these BW's are. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Pro: The 1203's would be a vast improvement over the CTS units..Con: The BW's would add additional weight to an already burdensome amp, but if you possess a sturdy back it should sound great...FWIW: Replaced the pair of stock CTS speakers in my 'Classic' with one 4-0hm neo speaker (blocked off the unused speaker opening)much lighter and much, much better tone.

Since BW 1501 seems to be the most popular version, would it be the 1201 that is most desirable in 12" size?

If you can locate two of the above speakers, they would be what I would recommend for your amplifier.

So after taking the speakers out of the PA system, I've discovered that they are in fact 1201's and not 1203's. Are these still worth at least trying in the Deuce? Cones are both in good shape but the back of one seems to be showing some rust (shown in picture). Not sure if this should be a concern.

The Deuce 212BW came equipped with 1203--8 ohm BW's. The 1201-8 were full range PA type speakers. The will interchange, but will sound a bit different. The 1201's have a slight upper mid range boost for guitar.

My old BW equipped Deuce VT came with two 1201-8 speakers. They are the original flat magnet ones with the spider web decal. Amp is heavy but sounds great.

They will still retrofit but sound just a bit different.
