Happy Hot Dang Holidays!

Can anyone tell me what the retail price for a new top of the line Emmons PP S10 was "back in the day"? How 'bout a Sho-Bud LDG?

Thanks!

My mom was married to a steel player in the '60's and he got an Emmons D10 in late '65 or some time in '66. We have one photo of him playing it at a stage show and I can tell it had four knee levers but not whether it was a Wrap or a bolt-on. I don't recall whether it was the small decal or the larger one either. She said it was $1000.00 from a music store here in town. Wish I knew the Serial #, would be interesting to see if it was still out there. I know you'd asked about S10's, but thought I'd share the info anyways. May or may not be accurate 100%.

I seem to recall seeing a catalog from the 70's that showed an Emmons 3x4 S10 for an MSRP of $1495.

I'll look around. I used to get Emmons catalogs all the time back in the 80's, early 90's. The prices were always list which was a lot more than you would actually pay for one. Ridiculously high list prices.

I may still have some around in my "files"...read junk box Embarassed

I think an Emmons D10 was either $1495 or $1595 in the early '70's brochure...I've still got it around somewhere.

Might not have been list price either! I'd bought other stuff from Ralph Henzel(sp?) at West Allis Music. Ralph was a well-known steel player back then, and earlier.

In, 1967, if you made minimum wage at $1.40 per hour, you would have to work 482 hours for the price of that D-10 Emmons guitar. Today you would have to work almost 700 hours to buy the same guitar. That's assuming the guitar is around $5000 new today which is really an under estimate if they were still being made.

In 1979 when I wanted to buy my first Emmons D10, I went to the bank for a loan. You should have seen the guy's face when he said "You want a loan for what?"

Loan obtained - had to play at least 2 gigs a month to make the payments.

Still have the Rosewood D10.

Ralph HanzeI. I bought a used MSA S-10 and a new Emmons D-10 from Ralph in the early '80's.
