| I wanted to get thoughts on the Walker Stereo Steel. Is this a good option for pedal steel? For those of you who have the stereo steel, how do you like it. Pros & cons? How does this amp compare to other pedal steel amps? |

Craig, I have 2 Walker S/S amps and I love them. Back in my
old playing days, I used 2 Peavy Session 500 amps and to me
the Walker S/S with Lexicon FX sound every bit as good and
this old man can still pick them up when I need to.

I am under the impression (meaning I thought Mr. Walker told me in person) that its preamp was built on the Session 400, probably the best (IMO) steel amp Peavey made. Great amp. I don't know if he's moved on to lighter Class D power.

| I've had two of them and am about ready to get another one.I believe it was the best tone I ever had. Regret selling them now!!!It was so versatile,sounded good in the studio or live. |

| I've been playing one for about seven years now. I, simply, love it. I use a TC Electronics, M-300 processor with it and the sound is just encompassing. I've played it in many different venues and it always sounds great. The three units, that, make it up are very light, individually. So, no breaking your back. |

| I am seriously considering trying the stereo steel so everyone's thoughts are most appreciated. I have wanted something fairly light and not high maintenance like tubes and easy to use with great tone. Not requiring a lot of dialing in on eq knobs. Seems like the SS fits that bill. |

I really like mine. The sound is amazing whether the volume is barely cracked open or cranked up. There are some advanced EQ settings that allow you to find that sound you're looking for. I also have the Walker speaker enclosures that contain re-coned 1960's vintage JBL D-130s. Those twin enclosures give me a lot more placement options than running a conventional combo amp. I have my rack enclosure sitting on the floor next to my seat and the speakers can be placed anywhere your speaker wire (16 AWG minimum) can reach. The SS is not inexpensive but I feel like it is a good value and has a strong warranty.

| I have a Walker SS and it is a great amp. I use it for big venues that I play at. I have in a rack enclosure with a Black Box, and Peavey Pro-Fex. For smaller gigs I use a Nashville 400 with the John Lemay mod in it with a Boss DD 3 delay. |

I've had three Walker rack units, I agree, one of the best amps available. I have decided to sell my rare Mono Walker combo amp, the same amp setup in a one-box mono rig with a 15 and internal digital reverb. Same fantastic tone in one mono cabinet, even has a tilt back handle like the Evans amps.

The Stereo Steel is a bit unique in that from the effects out to the speakers, the whole path is stereo. So you can have stereo delays, chorus, reverb, ping pong effects. Because there are two power amps, one for each speaker, the left and right effects outputs can each feed a separate power amp even though the instrument source is mono. In a club this may not be a big deal, but at the listener's position in the near field the sound is quite astounding.
Correct me if I am wrong about this, but it's what I see on the wiring and have heard in person. |

Ping Ping is a cool delay effect that requieres Stereo!
It also has an Stereo Aux circuit which can be fed another instrument pre-amp or a Back-ground track.
I sometimes gig on Steel and Guitar and have fed the Aux a Sarno Pre-Amp for my guitar (I have both units in one Rack).
Really nice feature. |

I love mine (pre-amp version, with a Lexicon MX200), and use it for my road rig, to 2 Nashville 112 amps, power amp in. I've been extremely happy with it.
