I was holding a tennis racket like a guitar and playing along with a little transistor radio. I didn't get my first guitar until Christmas morning of 1969 when I received a $5 Hi-Lo acoustic which my parents purchased the Army PX at Ft. Rucker, Alabama.

I was playing in a garage band. We played a lot of Rolling Stones and hits of the day. This picture is from c. 1963. That's me in the middle with an Astro guitar. It was made from a kit put out by Rickenbacker. We also did standards. I doubled on the steel. You can see, in the background, a double 8 Fender stringmaster that I wish I had today.

I was playing bluegrass in SoCal with guys like Pat Cloud...

Jerry, I think the drummer you're thinking of was Sam Goldstein. Does that name ring a bell?

Herb, it could have been Sam, I just can't remember his last name. I remember however that he was an excellent drummer back then. As far as that picture goes, you were never that young were you?...LOL..JH in Va.

Hey Skeeter, speaking of the Foothill Club, this bandstand probably looks familiar to you. Do you remember this guy I'm playing steel for and also the female guitarist on the barstool?...JH in Va.
