Dr.Z Amplification has introduced their Surgical Steel Amp to the steel community. A wonderful warm, clean amp for classic and modern approaches to the steel; it also handles the voicings of a 6 string guitar with clarity and punch which is perfect for the multi-instrumentalist. Check out the sound clips @ drzamps.com on the video page.

I have one and I love it. Also great for 6-string Baritone guitar!
Why did my previous comment disappear?

How do you think the EF86 tube effects the tone and feel compared to a more conventional 12AX7?

Here's some info I got from Z;
" the EF86 is 50% higher gain than a 12AX7, so it has more input headroom (cleaner), and produces a much more symmetrical waveform than a 12AX7 which are inherently imbalanced and asymmetrical. The result is a faster and more immediate response in attack and transients, a smoother and later transition into overdrive/distortion (due to the higher headroom). "
Also takes pedals very well!
