Aloha
Just completed a Lap Steel from Martin Koch's detailed plans (http://www.buildyourguitar.com/books/ebooks/eLAP_sample_full.pdf)
Had help wiring Electronics which include a telecaster pickup from StewMac. For my newbie ear, it sounds great. Have Doug Beaumiers tabs now set to give it a go.

Second......great job!!!!!!
I like it. Especially the fretboard and the peghead. Very nice.
I rebuild old lap steels and haven't worked up the courage yet to build one from scratch yet.
The fretboard kind of scares me a bit.
Your guitar looks very nice.
Third.......you have one of my amps. Give it back..... 
I love that little thing. I use headphones and made my own presets for lap steel.
Sounds great and my wife no longer yells at me to turn it down.
We need to hear what it sounds like now.....hint hint.

That makes sense, since Fender make lap steels before the Tele. I always felt like the Tele was meant to sound a lot like a steel guitar anyway. |

That makes sense, since Fender make lap steels before the Tele. I always felt like the Tele was meant to sound a lot like a steel guitar anyway. |
It's common today to find old Fender Champion lap steels ("Champion," not "Champ") stripped of their pickup, because it's a dead ringer for the Broadcaster/Esquire/No-Caster/Telecaster bridge pickup. There's a guy in Memphis who has created a cottage industry in stripped out Fender Champion bodies. |

It seems a lot of old Fender steels get parted out these days. I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing! |

Yes, I use the Yamaha THR 10. It's great. I was at a workshop in Maui a few years back and Alan Akaka highly recommended it esp. on the acoustic setting.
