Many years ago I had the pleasure of meeting and jamming with one of the finest steel players whom Jerry even admired...his name ...
DWIGHT HARRIS. Last time I saw him he was living in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. At that time, he was one of a very few who played a sweet Hawaiian style on a 6 string bakelite in the Ft. L. area. Wonderful touch !

In later years he decided to "go fishing" and virtually quit the steel, dropping out of sight. I'm sure there are folks who recall Dwight and his beautiful steel playing.

Could anyone shed some light on his whereabouts today ?

I'm going to move this to Steel Players from Steel Without Pedals in the hopes that more people will see this and be able to answer your question.

(Wouldn't the posting of personal information--especially of an absent third party--be more discreetly and appropriately handled in an email or PM?)

I've removed the information that Mitch supplied and mailed this information to Mr. Lake directly.

Thanks for your help in this matter, Mitch!

Thank you Brad...I'll look forward to receiving your mail. Appreciated !

Oh, I should also thank Mitch ! I do hope your submission
was not of a sad nature however, many years have past since Dwight and I jammed together. None of us are growing 'younger' ! I am now 88+ and have lost many musician friends over the past few years.

Thank you Mitch.

Keoki:

I think the house currently at that Jacksonville address is fairly recent construction (circa 2005) and is probably occupied by a man with a Greek name, not by a Harris. But those phone numbers may still be accurate?

During my research that was forwarded to you, I discovered there was a Dwight Lee Harris in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

He was born in 1933, so he'd be about 83 now--if still living.

I have no idea if he has any connection to your Dwight Harris, but he's the only "Dwight Harris" of a certain age I could quickly locate in Florida. The rest were born post 1940.

I have no idea of his address or if he has a listed phone.
