It looks like an Emmons GS-10 student model.

Rick is correct, Emmons GS-10 White Teakwood. Very good guitars and well worth $800 if it has a case.

Do they sound remotely like a P/P without a neck, etc?

Sounds exactly like a push/pull because it is a push/pull. My '73 sunburst lacquer GS-10 sounds awesome, and it's lots easier to lug around than my '73 rosewood fatback D-10.

I set one up that someone had screwed up the underneath. After setup and testing it, I wouldn't be afraid to take it on a job. Sounded very close to my D-10 PP.

My first PSG was an Emmons student model, 40+ years ago. I added 2 knee levers and played it on gigs for a couple of years.

Yes, it has the p/p sound, but the pickup is different than the pro model pickup. It's only wound to about 12K ohms, as I remember. It's not as "tall" as the pro pickup due to fewer windings. I noticed that in a side-by-side comparison with a pro model.

Here's a Demo I made with a GS-10 several years ago. This is on my blog, along with tablature for the solo ---> http://playsteelguitar.com/e9-pedal-steel-guitar-solo-invitation-to-the-blues/

Looks like it's been in the rust belt, and I would be afraid the ends would break off soon.

With the possible exception of the cables and connectors, definitely the most important consideration in putting a rig together.

This is the student model I played on the demo. I sold it a few years ago... wish I had it back! This one was 3 x 1. The GS-10 I added levers to and played in a band was a different one, about 40 years ago.
