I also use an old script MXR Phase 90 for a slow sweep. The pot is going south, but I can still get the desired rate. I have it in a separate loop so I can bypass it when not needed. Ignore the signal path graphic scribbles.

A slightly more expensive way to take care of ALL your modulation needs is the Strymon Mobius. It has a wonderfull phaser + excellent leslie, chorus, flanger, tremolo and other sounds. Highly recommended.

There is also the Donner Alchemy for multi-modulation on a budget. Obviously, it's no Strymon, but I have one & like it for the price.

This guy comprehensively runs thru the Alchemy's features:

Back in the '70's when I was in the Michael Murphey band, my techie roommate at the time tied my Phase 90 and our guitar player's (Sam Broussard) Phase 90 together with an added TRS jack on each one and cabling to connect them together. I had a switch on mine, and when activated, made the clock in mine control both sweeps in perfect sync. Pretty cool effect, especially on the twin parts for "Wildfire"...

I have used several over the years but the MXR Phase 90 is the one that I hang onto. The Roland stomp boxes are also nice.

I have a Mr. Black Gilamondo phaser that I like. One nice feature is that it allows you to stop the sweep and adjust to a fixed point anywhere along the sweep.

IMO the Phase 90 wasn't thick enough.

MXR (Dunlop) also makes a phase 100 with 4 different settings.

I've been using a Fender Classic Series Phaser on the road, and one of them in the Line 6 M9 modeler pedal on my in-town pedal board.

One I've used on bowed instruments (gamba) before that might be nice is the EHX polyphase.

it's got a nice envelope follower mode that lets you set the start and stop points separate of the sensitivity so, regardless of sensitivity you don't go spinning off into undesired territory if you really dig in.

it just animates the sound nicely - esp on instruments where you are controlling the instrument real-time (like with bowing, though I though that might tie into vol pedal use)

It's not the super-duper thickest, but I think super thick phaser can get a little fatiguing - esp under LFO control where it's marching itself back and forth without any "touch"

just a thought
