Got a nice new Resophonic on the cheap today from a guy on Craigslist.
He's a builder that was offering to sell one of two (Buyers choice) that he had built for just $500.00 bucks, Photos below.

They were both nice, but I thought the one with the ribbed cone sounded a tad better.
He had done the bodies with sheet steel and finished with an aged look. I would have preferred chromed, but at that price I'll have no complaint.

It was a 6 string set up for standard playing.
Went to the local music shop and picked up one of those older style metal nut raisers. Strung it up with a C6th set I had and it sounds fine.
It does have a radiused fretboard and biscuit bridge. The fretboard radius is no big deal, but I'll need to get into the bridge and make it flat some time soon, though it's still playable as is.

While changing the strings I pulled off the tuners and switched them over so the tuner buttons face up instead of down, now real easy to tune and a sweet tone too. Smile

Think I'll also add dot position markers to help a little in finding my place.
Now I won't have to keep re-tuning my Clinesmith from A6th to C6th when I want to learn some tab in that tuning.
Me be one happy boy with a new toy today. Very Happy Laughing

Dang!
$500 for a resonator strait from the builder's hands. That's amazing.
Chrome is awesome-but-pricey and I defintitely dig the aged look.
Play it in good health.

Thanks Karl,
Yes at that price you don't get too picky. Whoa!
I restrung it to C6th and one of those old raiser metal nuts and it sounds great.
When I had the strings off I also flipped over the tuners so they point up for easy tuning.
Who knows, maybe one day I'll take it apart and have the body chromed.
Best wishes,
Andy
