Here's a take on the intro to Mark Chesnutt's version of the Marshall Tucker song, "Heard It In a Love Song" - I like it! Not sure who played steel on the recording as no credits are listed on the CD. Slim Yamaguchi is definitely Mark's road guy but I know Paul Franklin has done a lot of the studio steel for him.
Here it is on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdfYUSqjHiE
I found a few ways to play this so see what you think - corrections always welcome.

Jeff-
This is excellent! I posted something a few weeks ago asking if anyone had tabbed this. Any chance on getting the fills/leads?
I see there's a live version of this at the Opry on YouTube with close-ups of the steel player, which offers a few clues. _________________ Mullen G2; Fender Tone Master Twin Reverb; Goodrich L-120 |

Thanks, Rick! I'm in the middle of grass cutting season dealing with broken mowers(!) but when I get a chance I'll be happy to take a look at the rest of it. I've always been a Mark Chesnutt fan...lots of great steel on his "Savin The Honky Tonk" CD as well. |

Here are more steel parts to Mark Chesnutt's "Heard It In a Love Song".
Fill@0:56, Break@1:44, Fill@2:52, and Outro@3:42
I also listened to the Intro a few more times and updated the tab for it above. Enjoy and feel free to post corrections.

I found a beautiful live recording of Mark Chesnutt performing that song at the Grand Ole Opry. Slim Yamaguchi plays steel on this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6uEA_mNnus _________________ 1974 Sho Bud "The Professional"; 2017 Show Pro D 10; BJS Bar "John Hughey"; Goodrich Steel Driver III; Live Steel Strings |

My guess would be Tommy Detamore. Sounds like his stuff (Great Stuff) |
