Plastic fingerpicks allow one the ability to increase attack, dig in, and play hard and loud -- hard enough to send metal fingerpicks flying in all directions. Great for maximum volume from acoustic instruments, resonators especially, and both bottleneck and lap playing. Mostly a moot point on electric instruments, where metal fingerpicks rule.
The trick with plastic fingerpicks is the fit, which is more difficult to achieve than with metal fingerpicks. |
Have you found any tricks for getting a better fit, Jack? I've tried the hot water method and have had little success. _________________ Lots of stringy things, many of them slidey. |

I have always used boiling water and a slotted spoon, and admittedly the success rate is probably 50% at best. Don't submerge the pick in the water for too long, just long enough to make the plastic somewhat pliable so you can quickly mold it to your finger upon removal. Being a masochist helps. |

I guess the "trick", then, is to buy a lot of extra plastic fingerpicks.
Thanks, Jack. I do like the sound of plastic picks. I guess I need to also stock up on patience! _________________ Lots of stringy things, many of them slidey. |

There's a BIG market in over priced "boutique" picks.
Just give me my Dunlops. |
