Ashoke, here are pictures of my favorite bass guitar strings. I play 5 string, so just ignore the 5th string gauge if you're a 4 string guy

I'm a big fan of Thomastik Power Bass Medium Light strings. They're expensive, but they stay fresh much longer than anything else I've used which makes up for the expense.

From Wikipedia:
"On a modern bass guitar, 30" (76 cm) or less is considered short scale, standard (also called long) scale is 34" (86 cm) for a 4-string and 35" (89 cm) for a B-E-A-D-G 5-string, and extra-long scale basses of 36" (91 cm) also exist."
I like RotoSound strings. |

Not sure I'm qualified but I really like D'Addario Super Light Nickle Extra Long on my Peavey American Cirrus 5 string 35" scale. First string is a .045. I would think I should like flat wounds but they just go "thud" for me. "Thud" is a technical term. _________________ Bill Cunningham

From a former good bass player (me), one thing to watch with flatwounds, as the age, the windings my "cup". If you slide up or down, all the sudden you have cut fingers.
Man, I miss playing bass... _________________ Amateur Radio Operator NA4IT (Extra)
