So I bought an acoustic 10 string melobar on here the other day. I have played much without pedals before and I was kind of playing around on the internet looking as some tuning options and I came across one that looked pretty interesting.

From high to low.
1 D
2 B
3 G
4 E
5 C
6 A
7 G
8 E
9 C
10 A

It is Maurice Anderson's 12-string Extended C6th tuning without the 2 lowest strings.

So my issue is that I have no idea what string gauges to use.

Just fiddling around here was what I was thinking.

0.09 1 D
0.010 2 B
0.011 3 G
0.015 4 E
0.018 5 C
0.02 6 A
0.024 7 G
0.30 8 E
0.036 9 C
0.042 10 A

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestion.

Yur chart is close but not good on a few of the strings .

The Top D is lower than the high E Same thing with the Top B Is lower than C

Bottom up we go with the below set up.
I personally like slightly heavier bottom strings.
Many others prefer slightly lighter on the low end.

A= .046
C= .038
E= .032
G= .026w
A= .020p
C= .017
E= .014
G= .011
Top D = .015
Not certain on the Top B - .018p would work.

That makes sense. I thought it looked like those notes would be crazy high but I couldn't find anything on the actual gauges. Thanks!

This is near-Biblical to me - if you like to fuss with tunings:

You do have to adjust for scale length and preference, but it's still all RELATIVELY accurate to it's own self.

I was hoping someone could help out on the string gauges' as well. Here's what Reece sent me a few years ago. I'd like to put it on my 12 string MSA SuperSlide as well. Can you suggest what gauges to use here on my 12 string?
From Reece:

You are correct, my non pedal is a 12 string. Here is the tuning I use.

D tuned 1 tone above 5th string

B tuned 1/2 tone below 5th string

G

E

C

A

G

E

C

A

F

D
This is an exact C6th like most players use from the 4th string to the 11th string. Have the advantage of the additional strings opens up another world of musical opportunities.
Here is a video of Reece talking about this tuning. What gauges should I use here? Any help is appreciated.

Using the Formula assigned above by GeorgeBoards I would go with :--

Low F = .052
Low D = .056 - .060

For my 22.5" scale 12 stringer from high to low (Reece tuning):
016-018-012-014-018-020-024-030-036-042-054-070

Thanks Guys, I think that's a good start. I've always wanted to try Reece's tuning. I may bomb out on it, but at least I would like to try. I can always tune it to an extended C6th if things don't work out. Much Appreciated.
