A friend of mine passed away about a year ago and his widow would like to sell his mandolin and fiddle. I know nothing about mandolins but can tell it's in pristine shape and has a nice case and it looks like it has an extra bridge that has a pickup in it to amplify. I didn't get a picture of the pickup. She is asking $400 for mandolin and what ever stuff is with it, just pickup and few strings I think.

The Fiddle is a nice looking fiddle in good shape. The mark on the back is in the varnish only and have no idea what could have caused it. It is a German fiddle made probably in early 1900's. The name inside looks like Elund Hienrickien or something like that. With proper setup, believe it would be a good sounding fiddle. No cracks that I could see. It comes with case and two bows. $400 for it also. Both these are plus shipping in conus.

If anyone knows anything about mandolins, please chime in and let me know if this is a good instrument and its value. Lady really needs to sell these instruments.

Can you tell whether the mandolin is a solid top or plywood? The multiply versions are worth q bit less than the solid/carved top. There is one on Reverb.com for $345 right now and I think that is shipped.

I saw online mentions of a KM-620 and KM-620S, in which case the "S" means solid top and by default, the KM-620 would be laminated. There might be more on the Mandolin Cafe site

No, going to contact the owner and see if she will come down on prices a little.
