Ernie Renn recently passed along to me some comments on Buddy from John Anderson via his steel player, Glenn Rieuf:

"Buddy Emmons is my favorite steel guitar player of all time. He was a true pioneer of the instrument. The tunings and mechanical changes that he brought to the steel guitar made a huge difference in the way that it was played and the way that it sounded. He never received the credit that I think he deserved."

He never received the credit? Did he not? He practically invented the darn thing in the form in which we now have it, and we all know that. Perhaps John Anderson means the public at large, but then what do they really know about any instrument?

I would surely like to see BE inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame - located in Nashville, TN.

He surely deserves it.

Too bad they didn't do it sooner.

I also think Buddy belongs in the CMHOF along with Hal, Lloyd, Pete, and Weldon. These guys helped shape country music. There are also others like Jimmy Capps, Spider Wilson, Tommy Jackson, and Buddy Spicher that belong in there.

One of my dream combinations would have been Kenny Rankin with Buddy. But this never happened.
