Author: Laurence Leamer 1997
Chapter 5: “Together Again”

The book got mixed reviews but at least the author had the good sense to work in the musicians, not just the stars out front.

Emmylou’s band members formed a natural aristocracy of country musicians. The pedal steel provided the vibrating twang that helped to define country music. For this instrument Emmylou called Steve Fishell. Steve had not joined the band until 1980, but he had kept with it for almost a decade. No band in country music had ever had so many of its musicians go on to become prominent performers, session musicians, producers and executives as had the Hot Band. Since leaving the band, Steve had become a producer, doing albums with performers such as Pam Tillis, Radney Foster and Rosie Flores.

Oh yeah, he also did the "Big E Salute." Wink

I have seen the "Hot Band Reunion" in the late nineties. There was also the Marty Stuart band and Allison Krauss part of the event called "Festival Of New Country". Emmylou Harris made fun of the term, which I also thought was silly.
They were really good.

Hey Joachim -

The author does write quite a bit about a European tour with Marty Stuart et al. - probably the one you saw!
