The Highwaymen were on PBS last night and I didn't see who was on steel. Did any one catch who it was and what he was playing? I did see it was a keyless model and I sure liked the tone he had.

Not certain when this show was recorded, but may have been Ralph Mooney. He was a member of Waylon's band and played a GFI guitar. |

The show was a 1990 show. I could not tell who the steel player was but it looked like a MSA guitar..not sure. They ran the credits so fast I couldn't read them. |

Not a bad song of that show.
Great music all the way.
The lead guitarist was bending some strings also.

i like all those guys, but the song choice was very cliche-commercial. they're really alot better than that. and you'd have known if ralph had been playing steel. you might even have been able to hear it.
i opened for waylon once when robbie was playing steel. he's good but lacks the greatness and uniqueness of ralph.
not a putdown. |

Our local PBS was having a fund raiser and that DVD was part of the promo, for a donation of a certain amount you would receive the DVD and there were several other items for a larger donation. I don't know if PBS was fund raising nation wide or just local.

Our local Richmond station apparently aired the same program schedule, what I refer to as the "Beg-a-thon" was broadcast in our area as well. Don't get me wrong, I support PBS whole heartedly but do find it annoying that these music programs normally only surface when the stations are actively involved in raising money...Did manage to view a portion of the show last evening and noticed that there was a clear shot of Robbie Turner on stage, was not aware that he had replaced Ralph in Waylon's band. Apologies to all for the previous misinformation. |

I stumbled upon this broadcast too yesterday. It was very enjoyable. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the venue was the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY. Hailing from Brooklyn myself it was a nice to see a NY venue (at least for the portion I watched) for such great country music. |

From the videos of the Highwaymen that I've seen from that era, I believe it was a BMI keyless steel that Robby was playing. |

PBS is still raising money and they had the Highwaymen on 2 times again last night. They aired at 7 and again at 10 local time. This was the same show they aired back in June. Great show. |

This special is on again tonight. The steel is a wood grain keyless. The MSA and BMI logos are so similar, I couldn't make out the maker. _________________ Amateur Radio Operator NA4IT (Extra)
