Hi Karen,
The Mullen Discovery pedal steel may be a perfect candidate for your husband.
Mullen pedal steel guitars are of the highest quality/craftmanship/sound and customer service at a very reasonable and competitive price for the beginner or professional.
I will also say, Mullen pedal steel guitars, especially the Discovery model hold an impressive resale value and are a great choice in that, there will be no need for upgrading for many years if ever.
Good luck in your search! |
Thank you sir. I am looking at one right now. |

One more vote for the Stage One. I've only been playing for a little more than a year, and I have to say that the way this guitar operates and stays in tune has made the learning curve a whole lot easier. As someone already noted, this is not a "beginner" or "starter" model, even though it's priced like one. Its straightforward setup and quality build make it an ideal first PSG that a noobie won't outgrow for years, if ever. |

Although I have not personally played a Mullen Discovery... It is possible that the above advice from a Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame Member may trump anything any of the rest of us are saying... |

Thank you all for your answers. I decided to order a Stage One from Doug. This gives him something to learn on and look forward to buying a better pedal steel when he learns a lot. He is a 100% disable veteran and has a lot to overcome to try to play the steel guitar.
Once again, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!!! |

Sounds like a great choice for a great guy! Doug will steer you right when it comes to finish and height of legs.
