I explored the purchase of this guitar, I was in Denver and saw it on Craigslist. I spoke with my push pull guy (I dont want to use his name) , we concurred something did not smell right. if you look at the pics the seller originally provided you can see where someone ( I am not saying the seller) filed off the patent number off the end of the changer. You can actually still see the metal filings in the photo used in the ad. Additionally, in pics supplied to me, it looks like someone possibly filled original serial number with a JB Weld type compound where I have seen other serial numbers located. The coloration in this area was distictly different. I have seen this method used in changing engine block codes in vintage musclecars.

I passed on the purchase, just because something did not seem right.

The guitar is worth the money in parts to someone like Jerry or Lynn who can do the work themselves.

My two cents on the subject. Its your business, and I don't want to be a budinski, but thought I would share my experience on this specific guitar.

Good Luck !!!!

Mark, you have it right.
It was a great price for the parts.
If you send it to one guy for a redo, Mike Cass, the Factory card will get changed to its being a Factory guitar.
I don't mean to say that the seller knew the story. Look at all the responses on this forum from guys who think the guitar is original.

None of those talked to Ron Jr.

Can something be factory sanctioned when there's no factory?
