Steve's memorial service was Saturday. It was nice to see Billy "Crash" Craddock in attendance. I met and played with Steve back in '73 when he had a little 8 string Emmons. I worked at Emmons then and took his guitar to work and put 1 or 2 knee levers on it. He could get more out of that thing than a lot of the pros did with their top line double necks. He played an Emmons his whole life and he did acquire a brand new double neck later til the end. Steve also played anything else with strings on it as well as wrote and recorded his own "real" country songs. May he rest in peace.

A gentleman and a real talent. He could be seen behind his steel with his tele in his lap and singing lead or harmony. A real friend gone.
