Can anyone advise me on what is involved with replacing the handle on my push/pull case? The case is good and strong but the handle is pretty mangled and I would love to replace it. I've got a good suitcase type handle I can use but I don't know how the original is secured in place. I imagine it's with some kind of pin or rivet but I'm looking for some advance knowledge before I start screwing things up.

Thanks in advance for all replies.

The handle attachment on my case looks like this:

When my handle deteriorated and was threatening to split into two pieces, the metal part of the handle that goes around the little cross bar between the posts was still in good shape, so I just wrapped about three layers of black electrical tape around the handle from end to end and it works fine.

Or you could check with a luggage shop and see if they can do a repair.

I found a very nice handle at The Woodworker's Store. Had to peel back the case lining to put it on, but it was a definite upgrade. Nice, thick, soft-leather. Much easier on my hands.

In my neck of the woods, there is a shoe repair shop that will fix golf bag handles, belts, luggage, etc.

To add to what Ron posted, check your local Yellow Pages for luggage repair. They have many suppliers that would have just what you need.

Ted, could you post a picture of the new handle you bought? I repair musical instruments for a living, and part of the job is also putting new handles on cases. If I could see what type your new handle is, maybe I can tell you how to attach it properly.

Parts Express has a good selection of case handles.
