Well made. Great tone. Pull-release, so it isn't very tinker-friendly, unless you're familiar with the push-pull (pull-release is pretty closely related to the push-pull). If I needed a guitar, I'd have one in a heartbeat (with a Bud, a Zum and an MSA, I'm fairly well set)

Keep in mind that pull/release guitars are harder to sell, and command lower prices, than all-pull models.

True. As reflected in the new price cheaper than anybody's new all-pull price

i owned one and i loved the guitar , Bob Simmons builds a very good guitar , they sound great !!!!
the only thing i didn't like about it was the grey marble color
other than that i would still have it

i actually prefer a pull /release changer

these are some of the best guitars you can buy for the price

simmonspedalsteel.com is their web site if you wanna check it out. They only build a pull release model now and The Simmons company is in Alabama. I like Pull release and with a simple setup there isn't anything wrong with it. The current model that they offer is called "The Genesis" and goes for about 1500.00 new. There is more info on the website.

One word of caution, which can lead to frustration if forgotten: pull-release isn't very friendly to changing string gauges. If you get the guitar, I'd call (Bob doesn't do email much) Bob and ask him what gauges he built it for.

Lane in all honesty
a lot of guitars are very picky about changing from wound to plain strings or visa vera
i have seen a lot of guy's change strings and then wonder what the hell happened

always make sure that you replace wound strings WITH wound strings or plain strings WITH plain strings

Indeed. But an all-pull guitar can just be fiddled with easily, without throwing everything out of balance. Pull-release and push-pull can be knocked well out of whack. Maddeningly so.

Indeed. But you have to have a different line of thought.
It's like nature. To be commanded, it must be obeyed.
You don't have to obey an all-pull.

To me .. $1300 would be a steal for a steel. Everybody agree?

For a new steel now, nearly unbeatable.
