As a single 10 player and with much 9th string experimentation, i have decided i like it being tuned to traditional D.
I have been experimenting recently with an extra rod that lowers my 9th string to C# (when i lower my E's)....It allows me to have a full 9/6th chord from strings 10-3. It seems more seamless to be able to strum the whole chord without having to skip the 9th string.
Seems better for swinging, and harmonically more attractive... What do you think? _________________ A.K.A Chappy. |

Forget what I said....I went ahead and moved my 9th string lower to an opposite Knee, so I could lower my E's and my 9th string at the same time, (using 2 knee's instead of one)....See you all in the next eccentricity!!! _________________ A.K.A Chappy. |

I tune my 9th string to D# and my RKR lowers it to D. I like this set up a lot. It allows me to use the 9th string in about 5 new useful ways. _________________ Carter S-10, Shobud D-10, Shobud Pro II D-10, Supro 8 String Lap Steel, Regal Black Lightening Dobro, and Excel D-10 with 10 pickups one for each string, one string for each amp |

I think it's a natural to lower D# thru D to C#. |

I lower the 9th string to C# with the same lever that lowers my 2nd string. I thought that was the most common place to put it. |

I like to lower my 9th string and also lower eight and four at the same time for certain things....I have always had my E's lowered on the same knee as 9 and 2 but going in different directions. I answered my own question by putting my 9th string lower on an opposing knee , so I can now have both functions at the same time.
I like string 2 totally isolated from other functions, by using an adjustable half stop. _________________ A.K.A Chappy. |

I wouldn't want my E lowers on the same pedal as my 9th lower because I use the 9th lower in conjunction with A&B to get my A6 lap tuning on strings 4-9 |

There's no E or D lowers on a pedal Jeff. _________________ A.K.A Chappy. |
