Just received Bruce's "My life and the steel guitar".
I flipped through it and can see that the 186 page book is worth far more than what he is charging for it which is $15. The 55 pictures are worth that. Your copy can be had by sending a fiteen dollar check or money order to
Bruce Zumsteg

Harrisonville MO 64701

PS Have him autograph it, I wish I had.

I didn't hesitate at all - sent in my check for two books immediately, one for me, one for a friend.
Can't wait to read it.
.....I forgot to ask Bruce to sign them too, doggone it. ....Maybe Bruce will have a book signing table at the Texas show!

I just received my copy in the mail yesterday and read half way through last evening. The book is a great read, very interesting with lots of stories and history of the early guitars and players. I give it two big thumbs up!

Get ready to laugh a lot about an iron spike and a sledge hammer.

I just finished Bruce's new book My Life and the Steel Guitar.
There is only one problem, he finished before he told all the stories.
Volume II Bruce?

It would be great if those of us outside of the US could read it too (I can't send a cheque in US $).

If anyone over there would be prepared to get one for me I could send you Paypal to cover the cost of the book plus shipping.

Any chance this will be available in Dallas? I could get Paddy Long to bring one back. I'm with Jeff Mead. Cannot send a Cheque.

Lyle, personal cheques seem to be a problem being accepted by vendors over there (not sure they can be accepted by th banks) and to get a Bit ank Cheque I was quoted about $60 fee. A Postal Note of is that now a thing of the past over here too.

Jeff Spencer, if you have PayPal, I can get one when I get Jeff Mead's. I got distracted by a full day Monday, but I'll get it ordered when I get home.

The last time I talked to him, he said "Come see me in Dallas." I can't imagine that he would not have books there to sell.

Bruce not only built a superb pedal steel, he also wrote a fine book! Once I picked it up, I didn't set it down until I had read it from front to back. His personal experiences were fascinating to read about. The early experiments were similar to what I had heard some local steel players were trying... Drilling holes through the key-head, using wire coat hangers to pull the strings, etc,
I recommend this book to steel players and non-players alike.

Great book, in a conversational style that relates the journey a true steel lover took to become a master builder.

I predict, one day a copy of this book will be highly sought after to accompany every used Zum sold. Just sayin'.
