I just received my promo copy of JayDee's new CD titled:
"From Where I Sit"

We all know the high quality of JD's picking. Well this CD just put the icing on the cake. It has something for everyone and is DEFINATELY a keeper.

Will be available shortly at www.jaydeemaness.com

You WILL want this one.

It scores a 10 in my book.

AND no computer tracks here. Only the best of the best musicians.

Is there any C6 on this album?

I don't recall JD playing any bottom neck but I'm not familiar with his entire portfolio. He didn't in Brisbane in June this year. Does he do C6 at all? I'd like to hear some.

I don't think there is any C6, but I am sure that JD will chime in here soon and then we will know for sure.

Holy cow! Sincerely, JayDee's playing and tone on this cd knocked me out. JayDee has such a unique and beautiful way of making any melody his own. The counterpoint phrases had me tilting my head and asking, how'd he do that!? Absolutely one of the best pedal steel recordings of this era or any era by one of the true masters. Again, his touch and tone just killed me.
I'll be listening to this cd for a long time to come. The entire production is fabulous.
By the way, you won't miss C6th playing. I sure didn't, especially when one can play anything they wish at will and flawlessly like JayDee.
Bravo JayDee! Smile

Just got this CD in the morning mail.
I sit and listed to it twice, WOW, that is some incredible playing Jay Dee.
I think its the best I've ever heard you play, so clean and creative, it just don't stop.
I'm sure looking forward to hearing you play some of these tunes LIVE at our show in Phoenix in January
Thanks Jay Dee.

I have Jay Dee's new CD in constant rotation. Jay Dee’s chops, tone, sustain and intonation are incredible making this an essential steel guitar CD and just good old listening fun.

All of us were first drawn to the pedal steel because of its sound. The tone of Jay Dee's steel on this CD takes me back to the first time I was “zapped” by the sound of the steel (on Ray Price records). These records inspired me to try learn the pedal steel. Like these records - Jay Dee’s CD is a brand new and welcome inspiration and study guide. (I have already learned (i.e. stolen) his bridge on “Blue Jade.”)

To me this CD epitomizes the state of the pedal steel guitar today. Players like Jay Dee, Tommy White, Doug Jernigan, Paul Franklin, Mike Johnson and Lloyd Green and many others continue to advance the instrument in terms of harmony, tone and chops. I’m amazed these players don’t stay the same but just keep getting better and better and better. Hearing them progress encourages me to keep on keeping on. Hats off to Jay Dee and all the musicians who participated in the making of this great and essential steel guitar CD.

I believe JayDee's record will be looked at as one of the true classic steel albums. The cool thing -- besides the amazing playing -- is that it stands up as a "whole" from beginning to end: great musicianship, great arrangements, great vibe. You don't have to be a steel enthusiast to really enjoy the journey!

I was fortunate enough to be at some of the tracking sessions and the outtakes are as good as what made it onto the record! Congrats to JayDee, Skip, and all the impressive musicians for creating a tremendous album.

Looking forward to when us "Non 'A' Listers" can place our order.

Aside from the times I've seen Jay Dee play with The Desert Rose Band, I have a great memories of a NorCal steel jam a number of years ago in San Jose when Mike Perlowin, the late great Al Vescovo, and Jay Dee came up from Los Angeles. As well as playing, b0b was handling the Band-in-the-Box tracks for that one.

A lot of fine players in the room that day (including Bobby Black) and we were particularly stoked to have Mr. Maness at the jam.

And he also killed it on some C6th for a couple of tunes.

Keep us posted as to when the CD is available for the rest of us among the unwashed masses. Wink

Just ordered mine, The previews are great! When you play E9th like JayDee you don't need to play C6th.. A true innovator and always recognizable on any track.. This CD will become a classic and a must have for all steel players to come...

I'd like to echo what others have said here. A fantastic CD. After hearing it I had to call him up and say- "I forget just how good you really are- thanks for reminding me!" As a result I ordered a bunch of copies for the shop for sale and now have them. Buy from JayDee but when he runs out- I've got his back Smile .

I just placed my order on Jay Dee's website for the CD.

There is Universal tuning, and there are universal truths: the PayPal account appears to be under the name of Mrs. Maness.

You can be one of the best steel guitar players on the planet, but the universal truth is that the money still goes to your wife. Winking
