I would love to see, and purchase, a documentary coffee table book or slick high quality calendar, post cards or stand alone beauty shots of pedal steel guitars in their intended element(i.e. music studios, grand stages, churches, honky-tonks, home music rooms) taken by none other than our forum photog at large, Mr. Damir Besic!
Come on Damir, we have all seen your work on the forum. This would be the perfect project for you with an ever changing line up of guitars at your disposal. Anyone agree? What say you?

I agree! Not many seem to come up with more nice steels, and nobody takes better pictures of them. I've oft thought that steel makers would do themselves a huge favor if they hired Damir to take pictures for their web pages.

Sad truth is if he printed a large format book with glossy pages, sold one to every one of us, he may not break even.

OK, fair enough. But what about the 84 million guitar players in the world today(current estimate). I was one of them seven months ago. You don't think six stringers are hot for pedal steels? I never played a steel, but lusted for one my whole life. Even if it turned out that one percent of those guitarists were just like me, would that be enough compensation?

A book would be a money loser. He should put out a calendar, make them inexpensively at Kinko's or Office Max, sell'em on the website, here and at steel shows. Suitable for framing.

Damir?

oh wow, I just found this... well, thank you all so much for your kind words...I talked to Chris few months back about calendar idea, but wasn't really sure how would people take that, didn't think there would be much interest...if you think that there is enough interest in me making calendar like that, I may actually try to do it...it would take some research and leg work, since I have never done anything like that before... thank you all for kind words, and maybe we will have steel guitar calendar for 2016

I like all of these, Damir, the most striking ones being those that have lots of black background, like paintings on velvet.

Along the same lines, I notice that you haven't had to resort to feminine pulchritude--you know how we like black velvet.
Beautiful steels are one of few things that are, to me, as titillating, almost pornographic, by themlselves, moreso than, say, Harleys.
Nothing quite like the Excel endplate and Carson Wells' engraving. Got more?

It's worth considering!

The only problem I see is that we'll only get one picture of each guitar. Maybe we would need a calendar that was laid out by weeks instead of months. Then, you could have a few pictures of the months featured guitar on each weeks page. Then maybe we'd get 6 or 8 pictures of each guitar.
