Before you take the old strings off, take a look how they are done. Rolling Eyes

Do those upright pieces behind the strings pivot with the finger? Interesting!

I can think of ways this can work, if those upright pieces pivot with finger. Do they?

Slip the string underneath that tab, center it, pull the ball up snug. Best to keep the flat of the ball flat with the finger but not really necessary, it works fine either way. Yes, the tab is part of the changer finger and moves with the finger.

so it's sort of a wedge fit without a specific connect point?

now i suppose the encore, having a different changer, has a pin or a slot like a normal all pull system?

really doesn't matter as they've both been proven to be very good instruments, but i'm curious to learn.

Thanks to Doug and others I got it to work, a little tricky but ok, I think it is a wedge effect as someone mentioned, thanks to all who replied

Not really a wedge, just an alternate means of capturing the ball.

The Encore has a slot in the changer finger like a lot of modern guitars.
