last night I did a gig at the nice sports bar, however, this morning my back is hurting so bad, i could barely get out of the bed... I am rethinking my gear, and seriously looking into purchasing another little Peavey 112 and little S10 guitar... I was thinking about ordering a new Encore, since I already used to have one, and was very happy with it... what is the lightest little S10 you ever had? any advices? thanks guys....

The Justice S-10 3X4 or Pro Version is 22 lbs. It plays and sounds great.

I'm not sure what GFIs weight, but with an aluminum frameworks, and maple die board top, it should be pretty light.

I just picked up an old Emmons GS10. I love this little thing! I use it all the time. Still using big iron PVs though. I have an Ampeg micro bass head and Jensen speaker if I really want to go super light. LTD 400 isn't too bad to lift. 50lbs or so. I totally get the lighter load thing. I only use my D10 and U12 when I really really need it. Trying to learn all on GS10. Those Zum student models look cool. Seems like I saw one on for sale section.

Encore is hard to beat, 3/3 changer, adjustable pro legs, 5 knee levers, TT pickups, all for under $1500 brand new, and with little 112 it should be a big help, and my back would be very thankful lol ... I think I would even get a keyboard gig bag to carry it in...hmmm ...sounds like a plan ....

That's the only problem I have with my Encore. The case weighs as much as the guitar. On load in/out a 22 lb guitar becomes a 45 lb guitar and case.

Looks like the Encore's got it beat at 22lbs, Damir, but a GFI Ultra S-10 (3P/4K) might also be an option at 26.5 lbs. http://www.gfimusicalproducts.com/page5.html

Carter Starter, FTW.

Just kidding, though it's really less than 20 lbs.

My Williams 700 series S10 is quite light (30 lbs?), with a very handy wheeled case.

I'm not sure how it compares to other modern guitars.

I figure you know, though.

Another to consider is the Mullen Discovery.

Not quite the lightest, but still reasonable at 27 lbs out of case, 44 lbs in the case.

Check out an SKB cases with built in wheels. I us them for my Sierras' and they are way lighter than the carpet cases. The Encore might fit into an SKB keyboard case.

that is true.
I like the case, but, I was moving to NYC and looking at having a gig bag made for it.
might still try to get that together.

I think the actual lightest steel is gonna be one of Glenn Taylor's...

I've had a bad back for about 15 years. I normally play S10 guitars and have some strong back picking buddies. The only other suggestions I would make is get a lite steel seat, try a component amp system (lighter, but more trips to the car). Split your accessories up into smaller cases (more trips to the car). You can do it, just takes (more trips to the car).

I build a Hudson S10 Pedal steel and it can be as lite as 16 Lbs in Maple Cabinet. Standard is 18.5 Lbs.

And get one of those folding aluminum hand trucks. They sell them at Sam Club and other places. They fold up tiny and flat..weigh nothing, and carry a ton. Amps, Seat, milk crate full of cables etc. will even roll out a case if it does not have wheels.. And they are cheap. Like $20..

http://www.samsclub.com/sams/magna-cart-folding-hand-truck/prod7290002.ip?navAction=push

I use them to load my class A tube amp that weighs a ton..

The Magna Carta. pretty funny.

So why are the cases so heavy? I think someone could make a mint with a bit of thinking here.

My MSA Millenium in Scott Dixon flight case weighs in at 21kgs.In padded gig bag with separate leg pedal rack bag it weighs in a lot less than that, normally use this for local gigs in own car, and Scott Dixon for van/flying gigs.the Scott Dixon is not cheap but is great light weight case, you could also use the SKB wheeled drum trap case. The Scott Dixon case can be seen in this pic.

ETS... Dave Pearlman has one, and I swear, it's made out of upsidaysium. Not having metal endplates helps alot...and it sounds really good.
