Looking through music sale books and seeing software programs like ez drummer. Wondering how many forum members use software programs to create tracks for cover songs. And how important the daw software is to you. I use reaper and have been creating backing tracks on my own but they never come out good enough.

The Drummer plugin/feature in Logic Pro X is pretty convincing. Everything else you pretty much have to play yourself!

I have used "Band-In-A-Box" to create some backing tracks, and they can be pretty impressive, but can be very time-consuming to do. Only the "Real Tracks" sound like a real band (kind of), and it ain't cheap software! I got an older used version fairly cheap.

There's also http://www.karaoke-version.com/ for cover songs - you can make custom versions that only have the elements you want.

My new Sonar Platinum version comes with Addictive Drums 2. But, no plain old 4/4 beat or rimshot. Everything is for modern rock beats. I would have to try and create my own with the program.

Same way with the bass and other instrument loops that come with the program.

Someone that is really proficient would be able to create some convincing tracks.
