I just got a matte black '70 Emmons D-10, hands down the coolest looking pedal steel I've ever seen. Matte black guitars sound even better than shiny black guitars and we all know black sounds best. _________________ I need an Emmons! |

dan, it means the back apron on the guitar goes straight across opposed to being cut out on the other bodies....thanks jack....(you can see it in one of the photos) |

Not sure why Emmons only used the fatback design for a short time, '70-'74. It removed one step in production (no need to band saw the cutout in every back apron) and I am not alone in thinking the fatbacks tend to sound exceptionally good. They also tend to have practically no cabinet drop.
Maybe some players had a problem with that 1" less leg room. _________________ Drew Pierce

drew, you are exactly right, they do seem to have a great personality, i am 6/ft. 2" and i do not have any problem sitting under the guitar....thanks jack |
