Great stuff from RT with Chris Stapleton on Letterman. I love it! Careful not to auto-rotate Robbie.

LOL -

David comments to the Steeler - "That's like flying a helicopter, isn't it?" Mr. Green

Great, tight sound, I like it. Smile

Thanks for posting this John...great job by Robbie on that "Blue Darlin'" Show Pro! It looks like a Peavey Amp way back behind Robbie...Steel just adds soul to a very fine song. Carl

Who ever that is singing tight harmony with Chris is a fantastic singer. Matched his phrasing note for note. Very difficult to do that. Morgan somebody. I'd pay to see that show.

Yeah, except we can't complain that we couldn't hear the steel!

Great job Robbie, as usual.

Thanks John for posting that.

My hat is off to the drummer for his tastefulness and restraint, a rare quality in modern drummers... Great song, great performance, fine playing by Robby Turner, just does not get any better, thank you for the post.

Robbie dresses up or is it down, very much like Jerry Garcia. Smile

They say, and it shows, that Letterman loves a steel.

Confused
If Dave loves the steel guitar so much,- why doesn't someone in Paul's orchestra ever play the one that is always on the set and just sitting there? I don't
believe I've ever seen it played by anyone and I've been watching Letterman ever since Johnny Carson left.
Confused Oh Well Wally

I've heard Sid, the lead guitar player play that pedal steel at least three times and I'm only in the USA for six weeks a year.
Bad timing I guess, Wally. steve t

Very impressive! Not only the singing and playing, but the mixing and quality of the sound. So much of Letterman's musical acts (the loud, rock-oriented stuff) come off distorted and with poor balance.

Good to know they (the production staff) can do a good job when given something good to work with, and that they know what instrument is playing. Cool

So does anyone know if Robbie is in Chris Stapleton's current tour band? I just checked, tickets to his show at the Mercury Lounge in NY on May 5th are already sold out. It would be worth the 5 hour drive to catch an act like this in a small venue. Darn!! Anyone with connections that can get me tickets to this show??

Donny, I agree 100% Production crew did a nice job following the song, with well timed closeups of Robby.

Awesome job by Chris, Morgane, Robby, and the band.  Letterman was a gracious host.

Don't know the lineup with Chris on his his current tour that begins in Boston April 30th, ending at the Ryman in October. Mostly small venues. He's in Denver on May 28th. Not to be missed.

Is that Chris Scruggs playing bass? It kind of looks like him.

I love sparsity and this is a fine example, four instruments and a couple of good vocalists.
I've been playing in this format for a while out of necessity I suppose - not enough money to warrant more.
He's a fine singer/songwriter. Good country music lives!

Steve, I believe that is J.T. Cure playing bass with Chris Stapleton. He also played the Jompson Brothers with Chris a few years back.

Hey Jim, if Robby Turner is touring with this band, we gotta try and catch them if they are anywhere close. Roadtrip???

I agree, that is exactly what I was thinking. That band is just perfect in terms of the minimum instrumentation necessary. Of course, having the steel front and center doesn't hurt any either..

That was great Robbie and you can't deny that Letterman doesn't like steel. He always mentions the steel players on his show.
