Hey guys just acquired a d-10 msa basket case. What I need help with in order to restore it as close as I can is some pics of the under carriage. Like I said it is a basket case. I've built some single necks but I don't know what all is in the under carriage so some pics would really be helpful. Thanks a lot ...Dan Auldridge.

What model is your MSA? I have a pretty clean MSA classic that I could send you pics of. I'm not sure if they changed the undercarriage through the years.

look in the steels for sale area. lots of msa's for sale occassionally, and most people post a pic of the underside.

It's a '73 or '74 Bud Carter classic most likely. I got
1C1389 -'73 single.

Parts are freely available from
Jim Palenscar at www.steelguitars.me
Michael Yahl at www.psgparts.com
Tom Bradshaw at www.songwriter.com/bradshaw

I'll look for undercarriage shots of my old D-10
You might find some by scrolling through old postings in Guitars for sale.

No, as far as I can figure, it's most likely now an early Classic SD10 with a bunch of extra pieces. It was a D10 originally, then converted to an SD10, and now you've (maybe) got all the pieces to convert it back to a D10?

Anyhow, it was originally built as a white tidewood D10, in 1973.

I'd only do that if you felt the need. It won't change the value a lot.
If you have lots of parts, I'd probably do 4 or 5 pedals and a 5th knee.

I can't tell you what to do with it, that's totally up to you. The guitar started out as a double-neck Classic, though (that's what the 2C on the serial number means). It had already had the C6th neck removed when it sold on ebay, back in 2010.
