From a Slide Show in today's Nashville Tennessean: Pete Drake & Jimmy Capps at Columbia w/ Patti Page. Pete is playing "Goldie" (you can see the crossover lever to the left) through a Randall Commander II amp.

I would think about '66. Rick Abbot has the earliest one I've seen.

PS: I wonder what Pete Drake's E9 tuning looked like before the crossover came out and he didn't have the luxury of all those pedals?

Greg, before knee levers came along, Pete just had the standard A, B, and C pedals, except that he also lowered the 2nd string a full tone with the A pedal.

By the way, most older players also know that Pete's big nameplate on the front of that Sho~Bud covered up Buddy's "Buddie Emmons" monicker, which was on the front of that guitar (since Buddy Emmons owned it first). Smile

Thanks Donny. I really like Pete - it was his playing that first drew me to the steel (on Dylan's JWH, Nashville Skyline, and Self Portrait albums).
