Aloha...does anyone know if any dates/places/info have been decided on for the upcoming O'ahu festival in 2015? Trying to get some ducks in a row, as I might actually be able to go this year...along with the Mau'i festival. Any 411 is appreciated.

David,
The HSGA convention is normally held the last week in April. Most likely the Convention will be held April 28 - 30.

The HSGA also participates on May 1 at the May Day, Lei Day Celebration in Kapiolani Park.

The HSGA Convention has been a great international gathering of Hawaiian Steel Guitarists around the world.

Stick with the April event, that's where some better players congregate, unless you want to witness mostly really bad playing at Kap. Park. Bobby Ingano will probably be there on May Day, it's worth the overall torture to catch him. Maui should be good too.

But be sure to be at the Museum Of Art in downtown Honolulu (at the end of Hotel St. near the State Capital) 6-8pm later that day when The Bobby Ingano Trio will do 2 sets accompanied by the still incredible Gary Aiko and Kaipo Ah Sing showcasing great steel and the best in traditional Hawaiian music available today. It's free.

I agree with the others on HSGA dates. The Maui Steel Guitar Festival will be held the weekend before - 4/23-26. So book yourself to Hawaii 4/23-5/2 and take in both festivals.

If you really want to know the dates, you should contact the HSGA or visit their website. We don't keep track of that convention here (other than through the members who attend).
