At Gypsy Sally's in DC. Great small room, sound was decent. Megan was amazing (except for a slight wardrobe malfunction -- her strap came off of the steel. She wasn't using that cool attachment she had for standing up, so gaffers tape to the rescue. I'm not kidding).

Best thing about her playing -- she doesn't overplay. Every note counts and matters. Incredible tone from her Ric, a TS9 and a silverface Deluxe Reverb.

Could you tell what tuning she plays in?

Heard these girls singing sans band on NPR recently and was pretty impressed with their entirety. Cute too, I see, they sure sounded cute. Using a Bakelite kinda puts them on yet another level of integrity.

Megan Lovell uses open G tuning on both lap steel and resophonic guitar. I'm enjoying their new CD "Kin" quite a bit.

Sounded like G to me, although they played in a few different keys. Awesome fat tone from the treble strings. Megan's approach is very aggressive, although she can play very sweetly, too. She did a few interesting things with a volume pedal, but mostly just got the dynamics from how hard she picked.

Glad I finally got to see them -- their videos are great, but their personalities really came through on stage. I'm very inspired.

Does Megan even play a dobro during gigs anymore? The past couple years I've only seen photos of her with that Rick.

She didn't have one on stage when we saw her. Also, no back-up steel, just the Rick.

I think she had a Beard R or a Meredith and she sold it awhile ago through one of the various dobro forums and that was just about the time she took up with the lap steel.
