Hi, on my Emmons P-P, the RKL raises string 1 from F# to G. On my Sho Bud, my RKL raises this string a whole step to G#. I like the F#-G# raise and the unison I can get from it and am trying to make the change on my P-P without success. I can't seem to get enough throw. I first attempted to correct out the problem by moving the hanger wire into the hole closest to the guitar body, which I hoped would allow enough travel, but it is still not enough. Is this change possible without alot of major changes to the overall set up? Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

I've not seen my push-pull in twenty years, but I thought you could adjust the lever stop, giving the lever a longer throw.
And being a push-pull, don't you really mean that you can't get it to relax enough down to F#, since you'd tune the raises at the keyhead?

First, remove the raise tuning screw. Attach the raise hook to the hole that would normally have a push rod in it. Tune the open string with the lower tuning screw on the end plate. Adjust the throw like normal (with the brass barrel and KL stop).
I'd send a picture but I gave it couple of tries and it didn't go through. |

Send me your phone number by PM. I want to give you a call. We have met before and I recently saw you at the Whammy Bar in Calais.
I did pretty much what Brett advised, but disconnected the spring for the lowering finger and connected the rod hanger wire in the spring hole as was suggested by Tony Prior and Jim Palenscar in the earlier string I linked to. The only negative I can see is that the lower tuning screw needs to project beyond the end plate somewhat, no matter how I adjust it. I am at present trying to find that happy balance between the three points of adjustment (keyhead, lower stop and raise stop screws)

| Right, you also have to remove the return spring (as Jim P suggested). Mine looks just like the picture Tony posted in the other thread. My tuning screw sticks out a little too, but not much. |
