I have for sale a Zumsteel D-10 with 8 pedals and 6 knee levers. I got this from my brother Mike when he passed away. I've decided to part with it since I'll never play it, because it's the "Emmons" setup and I play the "Day" setup. I don't know when it was made, but the serial number in one of the photos should help with the date. It's had very little use and is in beautiful condition. $4000. plus shipping. More photos later or upon request via email.. Thanks for looking. Tommy......

Tommy, Just so you know, it would probably take less than an hour to change that Zum to an Day set up. Zums are very easy to work on.

Cartwright: Yep, I know that. I have plenty of other steels that I have changed over. I see no real need to change it over and besides that, if I change it over it maybe harder to sell.
Thanks, Tommy.......

Hi Tommy,

I was (still am) a big fan of your brother. I talked to him several times on the phone. I manufacture guitar hardware (Hipshot Products)and am good friends with Paul Beard. We are marketing my new bridge for Dobro guitar together called the Hipshot DoubleShot.

Perhaps I am interested in your Zum steel. Can you tell me what the lever copedant is? (I figure the pedals are standard setup)

Thanks, Dave Borisoff

I can't get more photos to load on yet, I will keep trying. The Zumsteel serial number is D- 1086412 and I believe it's from the 1990's... Thanks for your interest, Tommy......

Serial ending in 412 would make it a 1991..

Pretty steel.

After close inspection, here's what the pedals and knee levers do.

Pedal 1 string 4, E to F# & string 5 B to C#
Pedal 2 strings 3 & 6 G# to A
Pedal 3 strings 5 & 10 B to C#
Pedal 4 string 5 B to A & 6 to F# & 10 B to A
Pedal 5 C6th. neck, string 5 G to F# & 9 F to E & 10 C to A
Pedal 6 string 2 E to F & 6 E to Eb
Pedal 7 string 3 C to D & 4 A to B
Pedal 8 seems to do nothing, but could be used to pull string 3 C to C#
LKL on E9th. neck Strings 4 & 8 E to F
LKV on E9th. neck string 1 F# to G# & string 2 Eb to E
LKR on E9th. neck string 5 B to Bb string 9 D to C# & string 10 B to Bb
LKR #2 on C6th. neck string 7 C to C# string 9 F to E & string 10 C to A
RKL on E9th. neck strings 4 & 8 E to Eb & on Cth. neck string 3 C to B
RKR on E9th. neck string 2 Eb to D with 1/2 stop & C# and on C6th. neck string 4 A to Ab......I still can't get the other photos posted. Thanks, Tommy......

Tommy, the copedant you list is the Day setup for the guitar for sale, not Emmons as in your first post. Should it have read "it is Day setup and I play Emmons"?

And I'd bet that P5 raised 9 and 10, and lowered 5.
Mike (and I think he got that from you, Tommy) put P8 on a knee, with P5 on the floor.
His Carter (I don't know about his Zum) lowered 8 to G on the same lever that lowered 4 to Ab.

I made some errors when posting the copedant for Mike's Zum.. First mistake, pedals 1 & 3 should be reversed. I guess I made that mistake just out of habit. I play the Day setup, and that always seems normal. And the other mistake is what Lane pointed out. Pedal 5 lowers string 5 G to F#, and Raises string 9 F to F# and raises string 10 C to D.. Thanks, Tommy......
