I recently got a gig playing lap steel with a band. I've played steel out before, but it was usually two or three songs a set and then it was back on the Tele. These guys want steel all the time. (which is cool, I'm having a ball!) But I've noticed my neck and shoulders getting really soar after a few sets. Any advice? I'm wondering if getting a stand for the steel might help. _________________ "Don't be mad honey, but I bought another one" |

What Ray said...
I find that if I have a steel in my lap, I tend to hunch and bend my neck, so I have to keep reminding myself to straighten up. Depending on how you're put together, you might find that a stand gets the steel in a better position. You may also find you like standing up with the steel.
One other benefit of the stand is that it lets you adjust your position and move your legs around, so you don't tighten up all over.
Keyboard stands are relatively inexpensive, so it's worth giving it a try. _________________ Peter
