I plan on being in Phoenix in January. Hopefully life will cooperate.
I did an interesting (to me, at least) experiment and recorded myself with my Zoom H2, playing the same song, through the same amp, same settings, on my '72 P/P Fatback and the Infinity. Although the feel of playing the two instruments differs considerably, on the recordings the instruments are almost indistinguishable from each other. |

(Hey Pete)
... and chances are that they would be even less distinguishable if you'd permitted yourself to tweak the amp settings just a wee bit... _________________ www.JimCohen.com

OK. Finally got the new Infinity and it is even better than I expected.
Played the first overdub session and I'm thrilled how well it sits in different tracks.
Great treble without harshness and the bass notes stand out with definition and clarity.
Thanks to Frank for building a first rate instrument and accommodating my unreasonable demands 8x6 on a single body 12-string working without a hitch.
With the Infinity and an identically set up MSA Legend I certainly don't have the option of blaming my tools... _________________ Olli Haavisto

nice.
Such a shame Frank isn't taking new orders at the moment. I guess he's a little snowed under with back orders? |

Frank builds a Great guitar, I talked with him in Az, he's taking a break for a while ,it's a lot of work to build a steel as a one man shop...he needs a rest.......
Frank's set in Az was the very best .... he is a wonderful player, and understands the works of the steel, that's why he builds such a great playing and sounding guitar... |

I second that motion Jason, as I was in the market for another steel, I was very disappointed but I respect Frank's decision. |

olli..how would you distinguish the difference in sound and feel (and weight) between it and your msa?
i always assumed the legend would be as good as any steel. |

Chris, they're both excellent guitars. Both sound great, just a little different.
The Infinity is more like an Emmons and the MSA somewhat darker.
I'll take either one to a gig anytime. Which is why I have two steels with identical set ups.
I live in Finland and work fairly steadily, so should something happen to my steel, I would be out of work until I got it fixed or replaced, if stolen.
Also, I like to have one gtr set up at home for practice and the other in it's case ready to go. A little luxury there _________________ Olli Haavisto

How would you compare pedal feel...or is it comfort....in socks if you play that way?
Also any other feel related comments would be great. |

Tom, if played without shoes, which I don't, the Infinity would be more comfortable because of the rounder edged pedals. _________________ Olli Haavisto

Infinity was well represented at the SWSGA show this year, at least 4 onstage and a couple in vendor rooms. I'm happy that Olli has joined the family.
David mentioned Frank's set onstage. Always a meticulous player, he must have eaten his Wheaties that morning because his intonation, phrasing, and expression were flawless. of course the guitar sounded like a million bucks.
I witnessed a first for me when Frank got a standing ovation in the middle of "Once Upon A Time In the West," his playing and tone was so powerful. Of course, at the end of the song the audience was on its feet before the sound decayed. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |
