Febreeze and sit it outside in the sun for a day.

What Scott said. My Emmons SKH case reeked with Tabaco smell. I let mine sit in the sun for 3 day after spraying it with Febreze.

I bought a used Gibson Les Paul at one time that really stunk cigarettes. I threw one of those evergreen air fresheners in the case, shut the lid and it did the trick.

Will Fabreze remove brown tobacco stains as well as odor?
Thanks

Febreeze is not a cleaner, only an odor eliminator.

Had the same issue with a Gibson 355, I used baking soda, and a dryer laundry sheet. Took about two weeks, but did the trick.

Good luck. I once bought a 12-string guitar on eBay from a guy in Canada. When I opened the case I was overpowered with the smell of stale tobacco. Not only did the case smell, but the smell had even permeated the guitar and the strap. For weeks I tried everything, but to no avail. Eventually I gave the guitar away to someone who smoked, and he's quite happy with it. Laughing
I guess the price was right. Rolling Eyes

Try Nok-Out. You can only get it on line and is kind of pricey but is advertized to remove any organic based odor. It eliminates the odor not cover it up with a fragrance like Febreeze. I use it at home on odors like pet urine.
Go to amazon and order a quart in a spray bottle for 20 bucks plus shipping. Worth a try.

I used the Scotch scrubbing pads NOT steel wool(which can get the filings into the changers and bearing places). It is best to pull each rod out to clean and after rods are out of the way, then scrub all the mechanism parts. Once the nicotine gunk is all off I never had any smell remaining on guitar.

For the case use a foam spray-on carpet cleaner, and let dry in the sun.

Thanx,
Jim

OMG! Fabreeze? That stuff stinks like a cheap French trollop! Go to Lowe's and get some some ZorbX. No coverup stink like Fabreeze! Works instantly. No smell to it whatsoever. Jeeze, Fabreeze stinks! Using Fabreeze is like covering up bad breath by eating raw garlic! Products do improve, and Fabreeze is so 20th century.

The icky, synthetic smell of Febreze would be just as bad as the smoke.

You could try leaving a soup bowl filled with concentrated vinegar inside the case for a couple of days. That usually works on stinky car interiors.

Or, if you want to try what used appliance stores do to fridges (granted, different kinds of odors), several sheets of newsprint. Just remembered that trick.

Auto parts store sell a bag that absorbs smoke smell, its about $10.00...Place it in the case and close the lid most of the way, then walk away for about 1 week.

It works great in cars that have been smoker owned!

I have a six-string guitar I bought used that the case and guitar smell like cheap cologne, or maybe it's Febreze--I've never used Febreze. What gets rid of that??

Heavy exposure to dense clouds of cigarette smoke.

For cleaning undercarriage. Get a bottle of
Fantastic and some Qtips. Cleans the stinky yellow stuff off in a heartbeat and deodorizes at the same time. Good stuff
