Yes the police have it and he will be picking it up in a couple days. then it's off to his tech for a cleanup.

Not sure how much trouble the guy who had it will actually be in. all they can really prove is he possessed stolen property, and as long as he surrendered it there's probably not much of a case against him after all this time.

Guy had a 5 star rating on ebay, but you never know that could have been rigged i guess.

I'll let y'all know what kind of condition its in when i find out. But it WILL see the road again.

The seller on eBay claimed the steel belonged to his father. Whether that is true or not I don't know but that's where the "son" reference came from.

Here's the picture of it that was posted on eBay. It's great to see justice being triumphant. I hope they catch the original thieves.

Exactly, Don.
Jim, the eBay listing said "this was custom built for my father."

Buddy's comment via Derek at Buddy's management company:

Quote:
We got it! It's at the 9th precinct NYC. Two detectives made it happen. One (Bob G) chased it down the 2nd day after the theft for 12 years and John M went to Brooklyn to confront the eBay-er.
Both are Deadheads and Rider freaks!

If not Buddy's son, then he will get kicked of eBay for the falsehood.

LOL yeah for the "other" Buddy Cage.

So I'm curious now. How good a steel was Hilt? The woodwork sure looks nice.

Not likely Rich. eBay rarely boots unless they have a LOT of reportable seller violations. Some of the Chinese eBay merchants violate eBay policies with almost every listing, get reported constantly and they're all still around. The bottom line dollar trumps all.

The Hilt is/was Larry's continuation, improvements, and modifications of the improvements that he and I did when we created the H&S (Hilt and Smith) model Dekleys. Custom pullers, chrome plated knee levers, custom inlays and finishes, etc. He created the Hilt after I moved to Texas so I don't know all of what he changed.
