Welcome back, Ronnie. I hope you had a great time in Toledo and look forward to seeing some videos from the get-together when Del Ray posts them.

I'm not familiar with this song. Maybe I should learn the words and then it would mean more to me. In the meantime it's another good number. Keep up the good work. Winking

Hey Andy! Very Happy (Volk)
Wow! hearing from you is a great joy, and honor my friend.
You know, I never could understand, what the great hoop, de, do, about "tone" and "touch", that is often mentioned here on the forum, I just turn on the amps, plug in the guitars, and let the music flow, (whatever that means,) and hope for the best, that I can do. I guess I have been sort of lucky. Well anyway, your encouragement also means a lot. Thanks Andy!

Hey Alan! Very Happy (Brookes)
Sorry I`m a little late, and yes ole friend, it`s good to be back home. We had a dynamic time this year,(We were fortunate that all of us did`nt get arrested!) (Ha-ha) No, truly it was, I think, the best of all of the Sacred Steel conferences that we had to date. Poor Del Grace, I think he had to take a vacation to re-charge. Laughing
You know, this song came to me a few weeks before the conference, and as I recorded the backing tracks, with all the different instruments, I didn`t think much of the song, but then as I listened to the playback, I thought to myself, that`s not too bad, so hear it is. The lyrics will be forthcoming.(I hope!)
Also, I`m still working on my adaptation of that special instrument, so keep an ear out. Bless you my friend and brother, and warm greetings to the family.
Ron

The last time I was in the Detroit area was in 1976. I was still living in England at the time, and I had one of those Amtrak six-week passes, travelling all around the United States and Canada sightseeing. I even dropped into Mexico. Anyway, I arrived in Detroit by train in the wee hours of the morning, and was wandering around on foot with a suitcase looking for a hotel that was open. That was about 1:30 a.m. A taxi driver pulled up and told me that if I didn't know where I was going he would take me, but I should be aware that dozens of eyes were watching me and I would be a sitting target to be mugged. So he took me to a hotel that was open. The next morning I got up to take a train across Canada to Buffalo, NY, but the train had left. What I didn't realize was that there's a time zone just to the west of Detroit and I was an hour behind. Not to be outdone I walked over to the Greyhound 'Bus station and took a 'bus across Canada to Buffalo. It was there that I decided to get a drink out of a milk dispensing machine. Evidently it was the type that you had to put your own jug underneath, but I expected it to dispense a cup. After inserting my coins and pushing the button it poured about a pint of milk over my feet, to the amusement of all the local kids, who had probably seen it happen before.
All this has nothing to do with your number, Ronnie, but I thought it might give you a laugh.
The next time I come to Detroit I shall know better. Laughing Laughing Laughing

I should add that a few days before all that happened, on a train from California to Chicago I had met the girl to whom I have now been married for 38 years, and with whom I have had two beautiful daughters, so the trip had some highlights, too. Very Happy

...and it brings us back to your topic of "The Best Thing That Ever Happened." Winking

Hi again Al! Very Happy (Brookes)
I am glad to know that Detroit played a beautiful part in your family life, for it helps others to see and know for themselves, that though Detroit is going through so much of difficult times in this day, and times, there was, and will be better times to come. Thanks for your words of encouragement my dear friend, and as always, the best to you and family...
