Topic: guitar 1" too high |

| what do you do for a guitar that is 1 inch too high. Its just 1 inch but the added height puts my left ankle in a akward position and i am not able to play for long periods of time.I have to position the pedals at a downward slant to play it. The pedal board is 2" wide and is at the bottom of the legs. any suggestions? |

I am only 5'7", so when I ordered my new Zum a few years ago, I ordered it 1" shorter than standard. I paid an extra $100, but it is perfect for me. I don't know how attached you are to that guitar, but you may consider selling it and getting one a little shorter like I did.

If it's just a question of pedal height, I'd say get a piece of 1X6 about 2 feet long, and set it just behind the pedals. Resting your left heel on the board, that would let you know if lowering the guitar would affect your use of knee levers, etc..
Any steel guitar mechanic, or a machine shop, could cut the front legs off for you and cut and rethread the pull rods. It's not a big job...but it's a "one-way" change. Better be sure you like it that way before you do it!  |

| Trap I believe the legs and pedal rods can be shortened. I've raised or lowered several guitars that I've had. |

| Why can't you just cut the rods off 1" and re-thread them? And then, if there is nothing you can do on the legs, just buy a new set 1" shorter. A whole lot cheaper than buying a new guitar. If you old legs are in mint condition, you might could even trade them in. |

Trap,
this requires knocking the threaded plug out of the end of the legs and cutting off an inch and re-inserting the plugs. Then cut and re-thread the pedal rods accordingly. Not much to it! Hope this helps. |

| You might try an inexpensive drummers throne. 20 to 30 bucks or borrow one to expieriment with adjustible seat heights. Don't lower the river raise the bridge. |
