A recording that influenced so many of us and a wonderful rare photo of Gabby playing steel.

Gabby's steel playing on "Blue Hawaiian Moonlight" got me focused on playing Hawaiian steel guitar. Subsequently, I've got other recordings of Gabby playing steel. e.g.: "How'd Ya Do" on the second Gabby Hawaiian Band LP. I have a source that has a lot of Gabby's steel playing, but not for general release. He played steel with Andy Cummings, btw.

I believe that Gabby's on these cuts with Cummings but can't recall if he plays steel or just standard guitar.

David Nalu is on steel.

Jack, that's Palani Vaughan in the pic with guitar, not Pekelo.

That's Palani Vaughn between Atta and Gabby. If you can find Gabby Pahinui Family and Friends video you can see Gabby playing steel, most likely with that same group.

I will be attending the kanikapila at Waimānalo Beach Park on the 9th with steel, a few local musician friends and with Gabby Pahinui's tunes in my head...
