Newbie to pedal steel searching the galaxy for all earthlings  and extraterrestrials  playing on Sierra pedal steel and hopefully D10s.
Just picked up one built like a stainless steel tank. It needs some minor adjustments to get all pedals in tune and stay in tune. All pointers are greatly appreciated!

I have a keyless Sierra Session D10 with 8 pedals and 7 knee levers. I agree that these guitars are built like a Sherman tank since mine weighs about the same as a Sherman tank. I no longer play gigs but sometimes enjoy the guitar at home.

California is a big state: if you're convenient to southern California, I'd take it to Jim Palenscar of Steel Guitars of North County.
I'd STRONGLY urge professional adjustment, as it's easy to make things worse.

@Robert: Yessir you're right about the weight, it comes in at over 90 pounds when in its case.
Recently my house was burglarized, they tried to walk out with my Sherman D10, but ended suing me for liability as they suffered from double hernias.

I found a local chap who offered to help me with the initial pedal tuning and give some e9 lessons. Do you know the way to San Jose? la la la

Approximately what year was your guitar made? Can you advise me if my instrument is from the 80s or 90s?

My guitar has serial number SCD 10S 1016 94. Tom Baker told me that the year of manufacture is the last two serial number digits. You might talk to Tom Baker at

My experience with the people at Sierra has been first class.
From your picture, I believe you have a Crown model. |

Keith I have almost the same guitar and it weighs only about sixty pounds including the original case.
You need the hexagonal tuning wrench, a tuner and the copedant to get it in tune if it already isn't. Since you're a beginner you might need some help from a more advanced player to do it.

I recently purchased, the recommended items and have found a local player who can help me with the initial pedal tuning. I have already got the standard C6 and E9 copendants tuned with 20 herz offsets for E and G#.
Do you know where I can locate the serial number, it is probably hiding somewhere on the bottom? Schließlich what is your impression of the Sierra tone and playability?

Keith the serial number can be found on the right side of the lower edge, closest to you, on the right side if you sit behind it. It's 452 50 5589, next comes the name of former owner Bobby Bowman (his name is in the "Extended Family Section, because of his recent health issues).
It's a good and very reliable instrument.
What is the serial number of yours?
